TO RAILHEAD PARK

(~address is "100 Pacific Ave, Auburn, CA 95603)

From the West (Bay Area, Sacramento):

Take Interstate-80 to the Indian Hill Rd/Newcastle exit (4 miles before (west) of downtown Auburn exits). Proceed straight through signal light at exit, between gas stations and up Indian Hill Rd. Continue for 3 miles on Indian Hill until it ends at the signal light at Auburn-Folsom Rd. Turn Left on Auburn-Folsom road (signal lite) and proceed ~1-mile to Pacific Ave (the third signal you will hit after you turn. Caffeine addicts note: Starbucks is at the second light, on your left in a new strip mall). Turn Right on Pacific Ave and proceed ~.2 mile to Railhead Park. There is zero parking at Railhead on race day and plenty of parking another 1/4 mile ahead at the American River Canyon Overlook Park, or on Pacific Ave beyond Railhead Park.

From the East (Reno):

Take Interstate-80 west to Nevada St exit in Old Town Auburn. Proceed around 270 degree offramp, backwards and Right across freeway overpass. Immediate Left on Maple St (giant historic courthouse building looms above you). Proceed 1/4 mile to Auburn-Folsom Rd signal light, straight through light (Courthouse is now on right). Proceed for ~1 mile to Sacramento Street and veer Left onto Sacramento St. You will see a 7-11 market at this veer turn as Auburn- Folsom slopes uphill. Go 1/2 mile on Sacramento St to the first stop sign, Pacific Ave. Turn Left on Pacific Ave and proceed 100 meters to Railhead Park. There is zero parking at Railhead on race day and plenty of parking another 1/4 mile ahead at the American River Canyon Overlook Park, or on Pacific Ave beyond Railhead Park.

From Comfort Inn: Turn Left out of motel parking lot onto Auburn-Ravine Rd. Proceed 1/4 mile to the I-80 Westbound onramp.

From Super 8: from E. Hillcrest turn Right onto freeway frontage road and take the I-80 westbound onramp (straight through the first traffic light).

From Holiday Inn: Turn Left out the driveway onto Highway 49. Immediately cross under I-80 and turn Right at the T intersection of Lincoln Way (City Hall is in front of you). Go 1/4 mile to Auburn-Folsom Rd and turn Left. The historic Auburn Courthouse is in front of you.

Take Auburn-Folsom ~1.5 miles to Pacific Ave. This is a left turn-only light, at the top of a hill on Auburn-Folsom. Turn left on Pacific and reach Railhead Park right after the Sacramento St Stop Sign. There is zero parking at Railhead on race day and plenty of parking another 1/4 mile ahead at the American River Canyon Overlook Park, or on Pacific Ave beyond Railhead Park.

TO RATTLESNAKE BAR PARK, FOLSOM LAKE

From Railhead Park (about a 6 mile trip to the lake):

Right on Pacific Ave back to Auburn-Folsom Rd. Turn Left on Auburn-Folsom Rd and head towards Folsom, away from Auburn and I-80. Proceed through signal lights at Sacramento St (Starbucks is a right turn at this light into new strip mall, Maidu Dr and Indian Hill Rd, then descend steeply as you leave urbanized area. At the bottom of the hill, you reach Scotty's Corner (Dal Pino Pools building and boat repair yard on on Auburn-Folsom Rd here and feed store barn is across the street where you turn).

Turn Left at this weird three-way road junction onto Shirland Tract Rd and Rattlesnake Rd. After your turn, immediately proceed on the Right fork onto Rattlesnake Rd and descend gently another 1.6 miles to the traffic island, where you stay left. Proceed another 1.0 miles to the Rattlesnake Bar State Park entrance Kiosk. After .2 mile, turn Left at T intersection to remain on paved road towards boat launch parking lot. Procees .5 miles to T1 in boat launch parking lot.

From Rocklin and Points West (Sacramento, etc.):

Take Interstate-80 east to the Penryn Rd exit (6 miles before (west) of downtown Auburn exits). Go Right off exit ramp onto Penryn Rd. Proceed for ~.2 mile to the King Rd Stop Sign and turn Left on King Rd. Proceed for ~2 miles to Auburn-Folsom Rd Stop Sign and turn Left on Auburn-Folsom Rd. Proceed for ~.5 mile and turn Right on Newcastle Rd, noticing signs to Folsom Lake. Follow Newcastle Rd ~2 miles down to the main entrance kiosk of Rattlesnake Bar State Park at Folsom Lake.

Proceed through Kiosk into Rattlesnake Bar State Park. After .2 mile, turn Left at T intersection to remain on paved road towards boat launch parking lot. Procees .5 miles to T1 in boat launch parking lot.

Note: Cars may not exit on park roads until final cyclist has left park.

From Auburn-area Motels and Points East (Reno, etc)

From Auburn motels it's about a 10-mile trip to the lake:

From Comfort Inn: Turn Left out of motel parking lot onto Auburn-Ravine Rd. Proceed ~50 meters to the I-80 westbound onramp and proceed west on I-80. Pickup "From The East" directions below to get to lake.

From Super 8: L out parking lot onto E. Hillcrest. Then turn Right onto freeway frontage road. Proceed straight thru the signal light at Auburn Ravine/Foresthill Rd and onto I-80 westbound. Proceed west on I-80. Pickup "From The East" directions below to get to lake.

From Holiday Inn: Exit driveway and cross Highway 49 to enter I-80 westbound. Pickup the "From The East" directions below to get to lake.

From the East: Take Interstate-80 west ~5 miles to the Newcastle exit. Turn Left off exit, cross over freeway, then straight through the signal light passing gas station, Dennys and Newcastle Pizza onto Newcastle Rd. Proceed on windy Newcastle Rd for a couple miles until you reach the busy Auburn-Folsom Rd (stop sign). Cross Auburn-Folsom Rd to remain on Newcastle Rd. Proceed another couple miles straight until the road terminates at the entrance to Rattlesnake Bar State Park entrance Kiosk. After .2 mile, turn Left at T intersection to remain on paved road towards boat launch parking lot. Procees .5 miles to T1 in boat launch parking lot.

From Auburn Motels and points East

Proceed uphill ~.5 mile to Burlin St stop sign and turn Left on Burlin. Immediately turn Right on Perkins and proceed uphill to main school entrance at top of hill. Park in main lot and proceed to cafeteria building in courtyard across from flagpole.

Notice you can also take a quick trip to the school from the Auburn Railhead Park finish line by turning Right out lot onto Pacific Ave, proceeding .1 mile to Auburn-Folsom signal and turning Left, proceeding to Maidu Dr and turning Left.

From Rocklin and Points West (Sacramento, etc)

Proceed on I-80 eastbound (~8 miles from Rocklin hotels) to Indian Hill Rd/Newcastle Rd exit. Indian Hill Rd/Newcastle exit (4 miles before (west) of downtown Auburn exits). Proceed straight through signal light at exit, between gas stations and up Indian Hill Rd. Continue for 3 miles on Indian Hill until it ends at the signal light at Auburn-Folsom Rd. Turn Left on Auburn-Folsom road (signal lite) and proceed ~.5 mile to the Maidu Dr signal light (fire station on corner). Proceed uphill ~.5 mile to Burlin St stop sign and turn Left on Burlin. Immediately turn Right on Perkins and proceed uphill to main school entrance at top of hill. Park in main lot and proceed to cafeteria building in courtyard across from flagpole.
