Gold Rush Travelogues

Dear diary, this course really is the world's toughest! Thy climb from Rattlesnake Bar up to Auburn sure got us warmed up right quick! We almost lost a wagon load on the switchbacks and we even had to make the children get out and walk to lighten the weight.

We stopped for Sasparilla and Cytomax in Auburn and then continued up towards Weimar, where we bunked for the night. We did 20 x 100 on the 1:30 at the community pond up there and ran a quick 20 min fartlek session just to shake the dust off the legs. I torched Jedediah in the water as usual but it was a little unfair because he carried the horse feed up Shirland Tract so his traps done got real sore. Oh and we all heard about that good and plenty, you bet your best chaps. What a wuss.

On Day 2 we pushed east towards Colfax and discovered this amazing top secret road down to the Bear River. We had lunch along the river banks and then climbed back up the ridge to the top, where we bunked down for the night. My right achilles tendon hurts from overuse but I should still be ready for World's Toughest Half. By the way, where is my gol' darn EPO shipment? The Pony Express sucks lately. My hematocrit is down to 39 and I'll be sucking wind if I don't get a boost right quick. Well diary, gotta go. I's gonna write me a rap song about Jedediah and his bitches.
