2006 Event Photos

Swim Start

Athletes loved the new swim venue at Rattlesnake Bar State Park, Folsom Lake. The water temperature on race day was an astonishing 68 degrees, the highest temperature recorded in Folsom Lake since 1948! (Photo Michael Kirby)

Marcel Leads The Field

Marcel Vifian, former US National Long Course Champ from Park City, UT, amassed a huge lead on the swim and built it up to four minutes on the bike course. His speed was so phenomenal that on three occasions he caught the lead escort police motorcycle on descents! (Photo The Kwoz)

The Winner

Clas Bjorling was training for IM Arizona and became seriously ill, returning to Sweden to recuperate. At the last minute, he pronounced himself fit for Auburn. After placing 3rd in 2004, 2nd in 2005, he enjoyed victory in 2006! (Photo Andrew MacNaughton)

Sensational amateur Albert Boyce, starts loop 2 of the run en route to a 4th overall finish. He was asking where Darrin Rohr was (DNS - hangnail) when photo was taken. (Photo Michael Kirby)

A Monk's Lifestyle

TriSierra's Tim Monk of Rocklin, CA, continues to make huge improvements in performance. His 22nd overall finish (5:23) sets him up well for a peak performance at Couer D'Alene. (Photo Michael Kirby)

The happy couple: Clas Bjorling and Kristy Gough took most of the money back to Kristy's pad in San Francisco and reportedly blew it all ($1,000+) in one night of fine dining in the City. (Photo Michael Kirby)
